* Welp, that was just about one of the worst weekends I've ever experienced without a physical crisis at the heart of the malaise. Mid-week and I'm still not over it. I may not ever recover from some of it. Ugh. I am trying.

* Distraction with writing, knitting, can't read, tv is dumb, can't walk because the world has become 40 days/40 nights, can't craft because I can't find a damned thing in that chaotic mess. Listening to music with headphones on, lying in the dark. I have a darkly strange idea for Idol. Not sure I'll be able to write it.

* Anyone else keep chocolate milk in the house for their morning coffee? My children think I'm odd. Who else adds a packet of gelatine to their first cup of joe?

* Huge thrifting book haul yesterday. Looks like Tuesday junking is going to be the "thing" my mother and I do each week. I found a first edition of "The Historian"! And another copy of *heh* "Wuthering Heights". AND A TROMBONE. Do not ask me why I bought a 70 year old trombone. And a bag of rabbit furs professionally tanned. I felt I had to "rescue" those pelts.

* I have a SLEW of submissions I'm working on. So much work to do! I really, really, really would love to find a home for the novella. But I've also got tens of thousands of short form words from Idol....

Munly is my love. I wish he was loved by others. This guy. Here's a cut from his astonishing banjo musical for Peter & the Wolf -

My husband puts cocoa powder instead of milk in his coffee when travelling. We have an expensive gourmet coffee machine, so I make cappucino every day and sprinkle cocoa powder mixed with cinnamon or other spices on top of the foam. What does the gelatine do?

Yay for the cocoa lovers! Gelatine is like a superfood for skin, hair, and nails and it dissolves in hot water. Unflavoured and doesn't change the taste or texture.

Given your weekend, I'm not surprised that your entry would be dark, but dark entries can be very worthwhile, so I hope you do it. I'm sorry you had such a bad weekend. Your recent purchases are eclectic, but I suspect you are as well. "A woman walked into a bar with a book, a trombone, and a rabbit pelt" sounds like the beginning of a bad joke or a great entry.

Hahahahaha!!! Thanks, G. I need intelligent levity right now.

How's your piece coming along?

I am currently going through a major crisis that hit me out of nowhere. It's just crazy and I can't really talk about it yet. I'm so sorry you're going through something terrible, too.

I will sometimes add hot chocolate mix to Portia's coffee. We have a cappuccino maker so it's nice and frothy and yummy. :)

*hugs* The "out of nowhere" part just makes it that much more horrid, doesn't it?

What is a cappuccino maker???

So sorry you had a bad weekend. I second rayaso write the dark stuff. Your dark stuff is golden. Besides, if you can turn the darkest stuff into something you control, take your power back, you've won.

I'm so glad you've got so much to submit. Yay!

*hugs* Thanks, M.

You are right! I need to be able to control the effect and implication of situations! Writing helps me do that!!!

How's your writing coming along this week?

*Hugs* Hope things get better for you.

Chocolate in coffee sounds wonderful. Like a mocha.

Does anyone need a reason to buy a 70 year old trombone?

Yay for submissions, good luck with them!

*hugs* Thank you, J. Friendship is a balm.

It is like a mocha! That's what I've told the kids and they refuse to try it!

I need to get some pictures of my gorgeous trombone!

You writing this week?

Thanks, S. I need to take some pix of the trombone! I'm hoping someone here will attempt to pick it up. I've got a multi-talented musical family!

Yeah, I sometimes put chocolate milk in my coffee. Especially when I can find my frother - since espresso machines are just too darn fancy, frothing up some chocolate milk and pouring it into coffee is delicious.

I'm sorry the weekend was so rough. :(

I did look at that coastal property from you last post, and it was amazing! Expensive, though, and the house itself looks big. A far cry from the 600 sq foot place you were looking at last year, which was probably more of a vacation home idea. ;)

Would you be able to come out of retirement in that locale if needed? The coastal towns aren't very big, though Florence may not be much different from where you live now.

The music link is interesting! The singing style is not what you would expect with banjo backup.

Thanks, K.

I think that price is actually going to be on the low end for coastal. And this isn't ocean front...just ocean view...but the idea of property appeals. I would probably have to rent it out for a few years to get the payments manageable. Luckily we know a ton of Oregonians!

I'm really not clear on his retirement plans. Once we pay off this house then he's going to be able to relax more. Plus we are training Kidling2 and once that takes off...then things will shift. He's not a sit-around-the-house guy...so I think he will have to stay busy. This job is his blood and bone.

I love Munly! I am so jazzed you gave it a listen! He's pretty crazy. I'll share some of his truly dark country stuff!

I don't like barista mochas, usually, tend to be too heavy on the chocolate. If that's even possible. ;)

i'm not a coffee drinker unless it tastes like chocolate, so putting chocolate milk in your morning coffee sounds really good to me.

you bought a trombone! i love that. what are you going to do with the rabbit fur? besides pet it. :D

i'm sorry you had such a terrible weekend. i'm really looking forward to whatever dark strangeness you write for idol, tho. you do dark really well.

Not a coffee drinker??? You guys are a rare breed. How do you jumpstart your mornings?

I bought a trombone! Pet the furs was about the extent of my plans. ;)

I like the idea of choc milk in my coffee. I'll have to try it.

Sorry for strife. It's hard when you can't even find a suitable distraction.

Trombone! Gid wants to pick up the trumpet. In middle school I was friends with a girl whose family raised rabbits and her older sister talked a lot about making them into mittens. It scarred me a bit, but rabbit mittens *would* be cozy. What color are they?

Oh man, have you ever watched the stop motion Peter and the Wolf??
