I am okay!!! Thank you ALL OF YOU who reached out and checked in. I am 3,500 feet above the lake, high in the hellbilly mountains of the Sierra Nevada. However, Oroville is the County seat and back when I used to be a politikal animal I dealt with almost all of these emergency folks you are now seeing - around the globe - talking about the potential disaster. The sheriff, I will tell you, does NOT have a soft spot for heavily-tattooed women and he and I have butted heads on several occasions, that being said, I feel for the guy. What choice did he have?! Damned if you do and damned if you don't. Just not sure we needed an EMERGENCY evacuation at five last night with ten minute countdowns to imminent failure! THAT WAS SCARY AS ALL HELL and The Viking and I just happened to be down in the valley when all of this happened. CRAZY CHAOS!! We checked in on our local peeps then hightailed it back up the hill only to hear that the water folks had managed to wrestle control back from Mother Nature and things are now in a semi-controlled holding pattern.

Yeah. Not sure anymore I believe a single government worker. This situation is tenable and not good. The erosion that freaked folks the fuck out yesterday is a ginormous cavity that has serious implications to the rest of the water management for this rainy winter. I just don't know and wouldn't begin to hazard a speculative guess as to what could happen. We certainly did not see this happening on Saturday when the emergency spillway began to spill.

The road to the recreation area has blown out. So there goes that hike for, oh, probably the next decade. And that's just a "me" concern. I really have no idea what or how this situation is going to be managed. The images that show yellow-slickered engineers scurrying all over the wreckage....put it into perspective. Sometimes, we are ants.

I'm so glad you're safe!!

This is all so scary and upsetting, between the human and environmental cost -- hoping for the best for everyone, and that the emergency workers stay safe!

Are your parents out of the way of this mess?

*hugs*

Thanks, A! I am sad about the environmental cost. This can't be good for our rivers and streams.

But so glad I'm not one of the evacuees. Sheesh!!!

And yes, thank you!, they are above the evacuation level!

Terrifying, glad you're safe. So much for all that "the dam can't fail" government bs but I suppose we shouldn't be surprised that officials talk out of their ass.

I knew you'd be above any flooding, but if there is a more serious failure with flooding, it will be a disaster. Wouldn't you know it? California has 5 years of drought, only to be faced with a dam failure requiring the release of gazillions of gallons of water. Nature does not have a sense of humor.

This is a HUGE failure, G, and they are all skirting around that fact. I get it, no one wants to take the blame...but c'mon. D's mother is downtown and she was scared out of her wits last evening....You guys are over by the river, too, though, aren't you? I cannot believe how HIGH it is right now. Old Sac is really on the verge of flooding.

Nature does not have a sense of humor! OMG! THAT is an Idol entry!

The rivers here are high because they are letting water out of Folsom in anticipation of more rain and the spring/summer Sierra ice melt, so it's man-made. I hope they get the runoff they're expecting, because Folsom Lake is less than 1/2 full. It would be a tragedy if the runoff is less, and the lake doesn't fill. If the dam, goes, who knows what effect it will have this far down stream.

Yeek. It pays to live up on the side of a hill sometimes. Not when a collapsing spillway is gouging it out, though. I watched the segment on Rachel Maddow from last Friday when she was talking about the dam and that hillside is going down. That is not going to be good. Lots and lots of repairs to be done, hopefully before all the finger pointing begins.

Give me high ground most any day!

I heard that this was on Maddow. Interesting! The finger pointing has begun in earnest. It does sound as though someone knew ten years ago!

the dam rated a mention on new england cable news today, which was otherwise a lot of new england weather. it was on cnn too, but i was more impressed that necn did a story on it. i'm glad you're above it, and that your folks aren't in danger either! it looked pretty terrifying.

Amazing to hear about the coverage! But it really is national news, failing infrastructure that endangers hundreds of thousands plus the ecological cost! I was surprised it took so long to get attention.

I wanted to pick your brain about those multi-jointed Dollshe bodies. They are sold out on the site and I bought mine before the newer ones were released. Does anyone have these??? What are the reviews? I wonder if anyone is selling on DoA....

Ooh you mean the L4 ones? So far the reviews are definitely positive as far as posing goes. I got another Fashion body with some of the newer joints and my god, it is amazing.

Just did a quick search for Dollshe in the Large Dolls MP and nope, people either only sell the heads or the old bodies

Oh, that's great to hear! I would love to sell my large and small bodies! Will you keep an eye on the marketplace for me, if you think about it? Also...any of the fashion sized boys for sale?

Will gladly do! I surf the MP often enough xD

As for Fashion guys, there is only one, a Grant Philippe in Copper (Fullset, Original Release) for $ 600 (or $ 570 if paid in full) from the US :)
