* I am loving, loving, loving Once Upon a Time! I am so glad I tried it again and stuck through those first cringey episodes. I'm seeing now that it's a story about reformation. The Evil Witch/Stepmother is going to be redeemed...or at least that is going to be addressed. And that's a great fairy tale trope! The literal reading regarding adoption isn't the best way to approach this symbollic story. I finished Seasons 1 and 2 and now Season 3 is opening with a Grand Adventure. I'm curious to see what this Peter Pan reveal is going to be all about because right now it's murky. I'm also enjoying the sexual tension between Emma and Hook. Who happens to be utterly delicious. (And I'm getting spoiled in my own comments and that's kinda bumming me out.)

And speaking of sexual chemistry. I KNEW IT!!! I just knew that the sparks flying between Snow and Charming had to be deeper than acting chops. They are ELECTRIC together. And the actors are married and have children! Well, of course! Anyone know that story? Did they meet on set? I think their chemistry is one of the things that really makes this show hum.

Jennifer Morrison is also one of those beauties who exudes sexiness and sparks off all her counterparts, male and female. I still am frustrated by the House/Cameron 'ship that sunk. So, Emma is humming. But the real treat is the strange chemistry between Rumplestiltskin and Belle. Both actors are a bit odd themselves and that oddness is used to its very best advantage in OUaT. Really stellar scenes between the two of them. Carlyle is such a funny duck. I mean, this is the cat who made The Full Monty a sensation.

So, suffice it to say that I wish others were currently watching and I sure wish I had been watching in real time.

* Had my folks up yesterday for a hearty stew and to wish the kids a safe trip. It was a really mellow day and I'm seeing now the underlying tension that my baby sister brings to social events. Avoiding her is doing me good at the moment.

* POURING. And no sign of slowing down. Snow predicted for the end of the week. Winter is just intense this year.

* Writing my Idol piece today. I have all the electronics plugged in in case these gusty winds knock out our power. I'm feeling the pressure now to get this latest entry done. Idol feels different to me this Season and I'm trying to sort if it's me or the game/contestants. My writing feels different, my approach to the prompts. It's all intriguing to ponder. I am seriously attracted to this week's prompts and have come up with numerous ideas.

"Had my folks up yesterday for a hearty stew" immediately sent me to a dark, cannabalistic thought. Perhaps halfshellvenus is right and my sense of humor is evil. I went meta for my entry, which I have never done before. I wanted to give it a try.

I am sorry things are the way they are with your sister. At least you know how to deal with it, and perhaps things will change.

Hahaha, wow, G. But...of course...you have intuitively stumbled onto my Idol piece this week.

Glad you're doing meta! This is such a lawyerly topic!

Yeah, I'm sorry, too. But my resolution for this year is to remove myself from toxic folks. Until a serious sea change is made, I just can't have that in my life.

Netflix has OUaT. Maybe I'll give it a chance. I'm so blah right now. For the past two weeks, it's been Idol, and the hospital, and not much else.

I am so restless at night. Almost everyone I know is also. What's going on?!

Working on my Idol bit today as well. All week long I thought I was going one way. Spent some time in the Work Room last night, and the penny dropped. Trolley Problem! I spent weeks watching PBS's series with an Ivy league university professor's lectures on ethics. Duh! So staying in my fiction-verse going to try to make this work...in under 1K words. LOL!

Give it a chance, M!! Let me know if you do! I would love to talk about it!

I don't know what is going on. I know down here that folks are really not coping well. So much anger and distrust. It's become epidemic.

Yay for a breakthrough on an idea! It's a GREAT prompt - endless possibilities. I agree with you that the entries need to be kept under 1000 words!

I am really going to bed early tonight, so I will try an episode and see what happens.

I'm not just tossing and turning, but I am so vocal. I guess it's just stress, but I totally hear you. The world is a mess.

It is a great prompt, almost too good. Yeah, I really do wish entries were 1K. But creative freedom and all that, blah blah blah. (Giggles and runs for cover.)

Yes to all the once upon a time things! And I absolutely the whole loved Rumplestiltskin Belle storyline. I so have to start watching again.

Yes, this weeks prompt! When I saw it my immediate reaction was PERFECT. And yet, despite writing around a thousand words on Saturday none of it was for Idol *face palm*.

I think every season of Idol is bound to have a different feel because we're coming at it with a different level of experience. The first time was new and exciting, an exploration of all sorts. And the second was different too with the working with teams and all. But this time, it's something we've done, it's something else, it's about perseverance and working on the foundation already laid, it's a different animal entirely.

Please start watching, J, so we can discuss!!

Hahaha, why can't those words be Idol words? You do love a philosophical prompt I've noticed. ;)

THAT is an absolutely fantastic interpretation of the strangeness this season seems to be exuding! I'm going to copy and print and read that every day I last in the game! Thank you!

I LOVE OUaT! Emma and Hook are great together, and so is the Family Charming. :) The Peter Pan storyline was decent but not my favorite, I hope you'll persist onwards - it's great the way they keep bringing in new characters and expanding the plot!

I just finished my Idol entry; I had an idea of where I wanted to go with it, but had to percolate on the actual approach and do some research, as usual. I like to get my facts straight when there's actual history involved! Have fun, and good luck with the weather.

It's really fun. I didn't like it when it was released and now am regretting not sticking with it. But that also means I can binge-watch!

It's a great prompt! Some have not been so good so far. I look forward to seeing what your research brought up for you!

So they redeem the Evil Stepmother? She was one of the main reasons I quit watching--my punching fist kept curling up whenever she came on screen. That also happened with the Annoying Little Boy.

I finally got my Idol piece written after taking a sick day yesterday. Now it needs to percolate while I come to terms with the fact that I'm writing a series and that rarely works out well in this competition. *sigh* I should have listened to me. I did post a warning that elves were inevitable.

It really is a fairy tale...and works well if one leaves all baggage at the door. It still has issues, no question, but it's working really well for me now.

Glad to hear you got a piece churned out. I know several of your readers will be very happy to hear that! I wrote contiguous pieces both times I played and went far...I wouldn't worry about it. I think more of the trick is commenting on other entries. We're not seeing a lot of that from this year's players.

Ginnifer and Josh did meet on set! They pretty much are Snow White and Prince Charming (and hello, the casting on this show is spot on because little Bailee looks just like a mini Ginnifer doesn't she?).

No spoilers.

(it's my opinion that Robert Carlyle would have chemistry with a house plant, he's that good)

I'm so glad you're enjoying the show! I miss that feeling intensely, especially since I'm done with it now.

If you have any gossip sites that discuss that love story, I would be grateful! They are just so in love on the set that it's a joy to watch them together! I've loved her since Big Love and just think she's fantastic. And yes, Little Snow!

I don't find Carlyle in the least interesting...so he doesn't really work for me outside of this role. What do you fangirls see in him???

Oh, is the show over? I have resisted the googling because of spoilers.

"What do you fangirls see in him??? "

In general for this type of question I refer to Mr. Knightley, "If I felt less, I could speak of it more."

I like what I like. There's no rhyme or reason sometimes. :)

The show is in its sixth season. No one knows if it's being renewed or not (I don't think they announce shows for renewal or cancellation until March? Not quite sure). But considering my troubles at the moment I'm so disillusioned and let down by the fandom (which is why I stuck around for so long) that I can't go on.

I don't really follow Josh and Ginny much, but I do love that they met on set and that they truly seem very much in love. Their relationship is the best thing to come out of the show.

Hahahahaha! Fair enough, gf! Well, he certainly is very agreeable, and I give you leave to like him. You have liked many a stupider person. :)

I have my own stable of men many find utterly incomprehensible.

I'm sorry that fandom is putting you off the show. I'm sending major good vibes your way for the current situ.

Watching them touch and touch and kiss is absolutely delightful in S1 and S2!

It's nice you're still enjoying the show. I really wish I still could. I know that the original Grimm fairytales were pretty dark, but I don't know if any of them ever attempted to redeem a patricide committing, child murdering, rapists. Regina's redemption feels less like a fairytale trope and a modern television thing where when bad characters become popular a lot of shows bend over backwards to ignore everything that came before to make that character a hero. I know a lot of people enjoy dark characters and sometimes root for them, but I generally can't - especially when they cross a certain line which Regina definitely did. It would be on thing if Regina had a good reason for her hatred for Snow, but she didn't.

Unfortunately, I've also never particularly liked Emma/Hook, which is a bit odd since I've liked Emma with pretty much everyone else - Graham, Neal, August, the guy Sebastian Stan played.

The Peter Pan arc was actually one of my favorites - probably the last big arc on the show I really enjoyed, mostly because the actor who played Peter Pan was so amazing.

I do love Snow and Charming and Ginny and Josh are very cute. They did meet on set and they do feel like a real fairytale couple. They're one of the few remaining bright lights of the show, which is doubly annoying that they got sidelined for Regina and every other new character they keep bringing on.
