* Thank you, thank you, for all the support yesterday. I can't bring myself to discuss it today. I did meet with my baby sister yesterday for two hours. Things were good, then bad, then good again. I do think progress was made and that my viewpoint is beginning to be recognized as legitimate. My family never says sorry but because of my father's health, I'm going to need to reach out to my parents and just move forward. I really need to work on boundaries.

* I'm going to post a comment-fic challenge! I want all you fanfic writers to involve yourselves! *hard stare*

* Here's a quick meme I jacked from tsuki_no_bara -

Hardback or paperback:

Both, really, or whatever I stumble upon while thrifting or whatever is in the best condition on the amazon marketplace. This must be an older meme…because shouldn’t e-book be a choice? And my answer to that would be…only for the trashiest romances. 😉

Borrow or buy:

BUY BUY BUY. I have books galore here and believe one cannot have too many. They are my friends and I need them close by.

Fantasy or Sci-Fi:

Um…neither is a preference but I will choose well-written Fantasy over all Sci-Fi, which tends to depress the hell out of me.

Love-Triangle or love at first sight:

If the “triangle” is a threesome, then that. I do believe in love at first sight. I think whenever we feel this instant draw and kinship with another individual it’s proof that the universe is far more mysterious than we can credit it.

Wall shelves or bookcases:

I have both. A library in my loft and bookcases downstairs and in the bedrooms.

Bad plot with good characters or good plot with bad characters:

I read for character not plot. It’s a flaw, I know. And this is why I adore fanfic oneshots. CHARACTER!

Harry Potter or Percy Jackson:

I don’t know Percy Jackson. Rowling’s Harry Potter is seminal.

Contemporaries or Fantasy:

Not a Literature meme, then. Both? I do prefer contemporary romance over costume or historical.

Buy in a bookshop or buy online:

When I worked at Tower Books and Barnes&Noble it was easypeasy to give my paycheck back to my employer. Now….I buy online and at thrift stores. Our last independent bookstore closed years ago.

Buy because of the cover or because of the description:

I try to avoid descriptions because I really enjoy just opening a book based upon no pre-knowledge and seeing if I get sucked in.

Alphabetical shelves or color coordinated:

Seriously? Genre and author. Is color coordinated a thing?

Wait to marathon a series or read as they’re released:

This is a pet peeve to the point that I’ve given up on series. I just don’t want to be part of that. With Harry Potter….I was an unwitting participant because I got pulled in via my young children.

Movie or TV adaptations:

Very rarely either. If something is going to be successful, probably film.

Reading indoors or outdoors:

I tend to get obsessed when I’ve got a good book so I can’t put it down which means the book must travel and be part of my day. Wherever I am, that’s where I’m reading.

Bookmarks or random objects to mark your page:

I’m a spine breaker.

Be your favourite character or be their best friend:

Be their love interest.

Physical or e-book:

I really have struggled to be a good e-book reader and have now given it up. I find I can’t remember books I read on the kindle. And I miss the books I love so I end up buying a hard copy as well!

Read in bed or on a chair:

Rarely in bed. I think it’s a bad habit for those who like to sleep.

Audio book or e-book:

The only audio I listen to is MUSIC and Sounds True recordings.

Series or stand-alones:

Stand alones.

Reading in the winter or reading in the summer:

I do more writing in the winter and more reading in the summer.

Is there any room in your house that doesn't have at least one book in it?

The office.

* Better Call Saul finaled on a bad note. I thought the episode and wrap-ups were out of character and the acting dull. Well except for the Chuck actor cuz he's been hitting it out of the park and I was sorry to see him have to work with such bad scripting. The Vampire Diaries is Season 4 now and that's the hurty season and also when it went compeltely off the rails. But still BAES.

I loved your list, and it really made me think about my own reading habits. I must say this, though: spine breaker?! Heathen! That's what bookmarks are for.

Ha! I usually can just close a book and open it again to where I left off...but when I've got several books going at once...I pile them up face down, spines broken. Makes me feel demonically in charge.

I don't do that but I am a dirty, dirty dog-earererer.

And yeah, love triangles are way overdone.

*Hugs*

Yay comment-fic challenge! *Cracks knuckles in preparation*

I agree all love triangles in fiction should be threesomes. There just need to be more threesomes in fiction in general.

And yes, character wins over plot every time.

Glad you made some progress with your family!

I have to say I don't believe in love at first sight. I believe you can feel drawn to someone, attracted to them, at first sight - but I don't believe you can love someone unless you really love them. That's been a pet peeve of mine even when I was really little and reading fairytales.

I'm all about the characters, too.

I need to read a description to at least know if it's something I'd be interested in. I'd rather not waste my time with something that's not my taste.

I prefer film adaptations usually.

Yep, season 4 is when TVD started it's downward spiral.

if i break the spine on a book it falls apart. :( but mostly i hate the way a crack in the spine looks, so i use bookmarks.

why do you write more in the winter and read more in the summer? is it a deliberate choice, or that's just what your body and brain want to do?

i'm glad your meeting with your sister went ok. i hope your fam treats you better.

E-readers are vital for the trash you don't want anyone catching you reading. ;)
