don't walk away

* Inspired by swirlsofblue, I'm hosting prompts over at comment_fic this week!!! Focusing on a Samhain theme because of course! Come play!

* I'm feeling scattered which is unusual for me at this time of year. I'm ready to descend and yet there's a lot going on with various folks. My family, Kidling1, Kidling2's gf's family. Much of it has to do with health and ageing and neediness. Ultimately, I'm feeling a change in myself, in how I'm dealing with all these strings being tugged on, how I can feel aspects of my personality altering in order to accomadate this phasal shift in my life because of these shifts in the lives of others.

* TV is a current wasteland. I woudl rather mainline Riverdale than watch it weekly, so there's that. The Mist was cringe-worthy, so we stopped. Mindhunter was grotesque, so we dropped that. Based on ryl's gushing, we did queue up Twin Peaks last night and boy-howdy THAT is something! I'm wary of it because I know it was cancelled (although maybe that was Lynch's intention all along) and I am familiar with so many of the memes, but this show! So Lynchian and really...when we say that The Sopranos was seminal in serialized TV....I think I might counter that argument by just pointing wildly at Twin Peaks. I can tell this is going to be quite the ride.

* Reading Deep Survival and I cannot recommend this book enough. Gorgeous liteary non-fiction. Especially for those who venture into nature, but I think for any who want to examine their own reactions to emergency situations and ponder how they might react better. Or anyone who simply is drawn to the human animal in extreme conditions. It's a well-researched and well-presented analysis of the human brain, both in evolutionary terms but also in current cultural adjustments. READ THIS!

* Still don't have anything tangible enough to hang NaNo on. I think I'm just going to try to tap into the universal energy of the thing and write and see what comes out of the ends of my fingerbones.

Glad to be of inspiration ;), can't wait to see this weeks themes.

I suppose that's a part of life and adapting *Hugs*

I want to watch twin peaks, don't really have any access to it though. Also, have you tried watching the Shadowhunters?

Sometimes writing and seeing what comes is the best way. I look forward to seeing what you come up with. I've decided to write both of my things. I think I need two things to stay on target. That way I can switch between them.

It's daunting but fun! EEE! I do love that community.

I'll let you know what I think about Twin Peaks as we progress. I did look up Shadowhunters and now I want to see it! But I can't figure out how to watch it.

Glad you're going to write both. I do think it can be invigorating to switch horses when you know it's only for a set period of time.

It is an awesome community.

I watched it on Netflix, but I don't know if it's on Netflix in America.

Heya, have I ever got a book recommendation for you! To The Bright Edge Of The World by Eowyn Ivey - I started it this morning, and got to pg. 237 before I had to get my butt in gear for the day; what an incredible tale!

BWA-HA-HA-HA-HA-HA! Welcome to the Lynch side!

They handled the transition from the abrupt cancellation from S2 very well in S3. We shall discuss the ending of S3 when you get to it. I have theories about it. So many theories.

King fan that I am, I could not watch The Mist either. I tried, but two episodes in it became so predictable and blah, I stopped watching.

I'm glad you're able to see Twin Peaks. I recall it being so good the first season, but started to lose interest soon after the beginning of the second season. When Lynch showed up on screen, and Duchovny came in, I was already tired of it.

Costing the roller coaster of pain meds. Good news. No bones are broken, no sign of a rash, so not shingles. My doc is booking a catscan. Hope we find out what it is and can get to the treatment already.

Haven't done anything in nano_gate, but that should change soon.

Tapping into universal energy and seeing what comes out of your finger bones -- I like that a lot! I like the idea, and I also like it because I relate. I can't seem to write anything right now, but I'm trying to just dig into some weird wavelength of something and just write write write.
