the Stamps

* I helped my mother with her taxes all morning. It's not easy, but there's a constant sense of gratitude for how organized my father was.

* We watched Mountain Between Us. It was good. Idris is amazing! Kate not so much....and I think it would have been steamier with someone who has the charisma she lacks. Emily Blunt exuded bucketloads of it in Sicario across't from Benicio. THAT would have been nice in this film. Still, it's a worthwhile watch.

* It's 76 degrees here today and I don't even know what to do with this weather. We have all the doors and windows thrown wide.

Buck Owens! Haven't seen or heard him, or even thought of him for years! Remember Hee Haw?

I enjoyed this version of WS, but found it a bit experimental at least for the time. Boy that man could get those low, low notes!

I would love to throw open the window. It's stuffy and smoky in here.

It's funny you should mention taxes, was just talking to my Pastor's wife about taxes. How wonderful your dad took care of things so carefully.

I've loved Idris Elba since seeing him in Luther. That's a movie I would like to see. I think Kate Winslet has a style you either like or not, she's not the most "giving" actress. Blunt is fantastic!

We watch Hee Haw all the time on youtube! The Viking plays the banjo so he's very partial to it! I do remember seeing it as a kid, too.

Basso Profundo!! Kind of fun. I might find more of his stuff.

My dad. Yeah, totally and completely organized. Unbelievably humbling.

I need to queue Luther!

Re your previous post, it's great that you're feeling up to posting more regularly, but writing every day is a lot, be careful of how much pressure you put on yourself, sometimes it's hard to notice too much weight at the time.

Also I love watching 'Colombo'.

I may have to watch Mountain between us.

All the forms are hard the first time. It's good that your father kept it organised.

Thanks, J. I appreciate that. Believe me, I know very quickly if I'm putting too much on myself. It's as though I've been hit by a truck...and I can feel when I'm stressed. My stream-of-conscious fractured writing feels a bit like sending a small prayer out into the world.

Columbo! I need to queue up Luther! What are you watching these days? We are enjoying Altered Carbon.

I just watched Altered Carbon, I really liked it.

I've been watching Brooklyn nine nine which is awesome, and The Good Place which is also good.

That makes me interesting in watching that movie on video now. I am all about Idris! But resisted it in the theaters, because the reviews weren't great. Your comment gives me a sense of why.

It's nice of you to help your mom with taxes. That must seem just overwhelming at a time like this. I know it was for my mom, and they had accountants to do the actual work. But the papers, the forms... my Dad had handled all of that.

My sister set her up with an accordion file system for handling the bills, which she also hadn't done before. That really helped.

I went back to listen to the song. Damn, but he can hit some low notes! I don't think the uneven octave slide downward works very well, and there were a few low notes he didn't quite make (I have the same problem with low notes-- sometimes the throat isn't all the way open). But nonetheless! Wow.

It's definitely worth seeing when it comes to the small screen, K. But yes, the female character would have been stronger cast differently. Idris is amazing in anything.

Taxes. Ugh. We use an accountant because we own our own business, but my father has always done his own taxes and I think we could sort it but with his death and the sale of their house last year, we're really just getting everything collated so she can interview a few accountants. My father's files are impeccable, so we've been continuing what he had been doing. Makes that part of it so amazingly easy.

That singer! I need to check out a few more of his songs...that sounds dated but his voice made the listen worthwhile!

I did check out some of them-- I did a whole little mini-tour on youtube yesterday, after listening to that performance.

This one is a simple and heartfelt gospel tune, easier if you concentrate on his singing rather than the crowd around him (they're dated, and a little distracting): https://youtu.be/hAumEXREPz0

And this one doesn't solely feature him, but was good and also made use of his deep voice: https://youtu.be/HfjDaY1LrOY
