* We got a very large snowstorm that moved through last Friday evening. It was pretty darned glorious. We need more moisture and we certainly need snowpack. Saturday was snow-wheeling day -

* As you can see, we picked Kidling1 up on Friday, too. She's exhausted. She is halfway through her final semester of law school and is badly in need of a rest....but this week she's interviewing with all the local and semi-local Public Defender and Federal Defender offices. This is a person who really loves to work. She needs to work. So, I hope she lands a post-bar internship that will turn into a job offer. I'm relieved that she wants to return home and that she will be within an easy drive. She'll have to move into the poolhouse until August so that she can study for the bar, take the bar, and then FINALLY relax.

* Although sometime in the middle of all that we are going to have to fly out to Arlington Cemetery for my dad's service.

* Spent a long time on the phone with the local cemetery's sexton yesterday. He's finally hearing what I've been saying and he wants to explore green burials and cremains burials, also a log building for services. And Wreaths Across America. This is all good. But he wants me in charge of all this. We need auxillary groups and fundraising groups and groundskeeping groups. I am contemplating. A friend's daughter tragically drank herself to death last week and her service is on the 24th, so that will be a good opportunity for me to really consider this small graveyard.

* We watched the Tower Records documentary last night "All Things Must Pass" and it bummed me out supremely. The years I managed the import section in the 80's, working all the stores and even the main office eventually, were the things hipster dreams are dreamt on. Russ died Sunday evening at the age of 92. RIP Mr. Solomon.

Beautiful, beautiful photos! Made me fall in love with snow again. It is so lovely, but ours is melting--into a bucket in my bedroom. Zoltan looks wonderful in the snow with all his luxurious fur. Is that you're Kidling1? A beautiful like her mom!

In my heart of hearts, I want a green burial. I saw it for the first time on Six Feet Under did some research and just fell in love with it. For decades I've been saying, I would rather fertilize the soil than pollute the air, and that's exactly how I feel about green burials. It's the answer. My experience with my mom's cremains will haunt me forever--things just went wrong. Still traumatizing to even think about.

So sad about your friend's daughter. So sorry.

I'm glad you're able to carry out your father's wishes. It sounds simple, but it means so much.

Just listened to this version of Wayfaring Stranger. Amazing! My favorite so far. Subscribed and gave it a thumbs up. Wonderful! What a voice!

Beautiful pictures! Yay, glorious snow; we got some here too, so our mountains are all white. Your daughter is lovely; very glad to hear she'll be closer to home now.

*hugs* Very glad to see you back here; I've missed you.

I love that you're looking at green and/or cremains burials. My husband is under strict instructions to keep me out of boxes (extreme claustrophobia that carries through my death). I have nightmares about coffins and confined spaces. He's under orders to cremate me and sprinkle me somewhere or other or many places. I need to be outdoors.

So sorry to hear about your friend's daughter.

You worked for Tower Records? Sweet!

Good news about Kidling 1! Our oldest is thinking about law school down the road, but also think that there is _no way_ she wants to be anywhere near here or the future places we might live. *sigh*

I'm so sorry about your friend's daughter. What a terrible way to lose someone. :(

Oh I'm terribly sorry about your friend's daughter.

That sounds really interesting about the cemetery projects and working on more green solutions!

Oh my, I love your photos. Snow, yay! And kidlet1 is gorgeous! And your pup is so pretty!
