* It's still raining up here. So much water!

* The cemetery association is undergoing changes and I'm now assistant-Sexton. Yes, this is BIG news, but tempered by the amount of work involved and the fact that I'm the only one willing/able to do it. Data processing and disseminating said data to our small group. It's also forcing the other Sexton to deal with his alpha male tendencies and that's been amusing to watch, at least. This is going to add to my workload. But I'm committed to the mountain graveyard and want to do the part that I can in ensuring that things run efficiently and smoothly and can be handed off to future board members.

* Busy day - Little Dog to the vet for a follow up, then back here, then down to my mother's. All while dodging raindrops.

I hope your new cemetery position works out well, and is rewarding! You've certainly put in a ton of work for it. Good luck de-alpha-ing that male!

*smooch* Thanks, A!

I have put so much work into it, and I do hope I can make it work now without our original Sexton. This other guys....grrrrr....I'm not sure how to de-alpha him. LOL! Oldskool redneck and long-time hill dweller. All his peeps are in that graveyard.

How are you, hon??

Fingers crossed for you! And I'm glad this guy is invested, even if he's hard to work with.

I'm doing well! Kira's finally back on her feet, after 8 weeks of recovery, which is taking a load off of me. I've been a bit cabin-fever-ish, so I'm trying to get out and do more social and physically-active stuff (including dragging myself out to go dancing, even if nobody comes with me, which I tend to be reluctant to do. It's more fun with friends along!)

We're really looking forward to Convergence, which is in Boston this year, at the beginning of next month. I've never been there, so I'm excited to check out the city, to see my sweetie (it's been since the end of January), and to get some time with Jola and my other dearly-beloved old friends.

Kira's looking into taking a month-long intensive course to get a CELT certification (English language teaching to non-native speakers), which would potentially allow her to get a work-from-home job doing online tutoring. Fingers crossed!

Things have been a little frustrating lately, but I'm hoping that they're on the upswing. The surgery threw both of us off-kilter, and we're still working on getting our household routine back together.

Much love,

-- A <3

Thank goodness, A, that she has come through that and is recovering(ed). I'm certain sure that 99% of that is due to her momma. I'm so glad to hear that you're getting a rewarding break and will be able to see your boo as well as your grrls!

You really go out dancing by yourself??? That's all kinds of brave and bold! Is there a club that caters to your musical preference? Wear that freakin' hat!!!

It was a pretty intense 8 weeks, but I'm so glad that I was able to support her through that, and that I was ALSO able to pay a friend to come over once a week and help with some of the stuff that I absolutely could not take over (Kira doesn't have my back issues, so stuff like lifting heavy bags of trash is usually her job -- we split up the household chores according to ability and aptitude.)

We have both definitely earned this vacation!! I'm just so glad she's finally feeling better and getting some energy back. She planted some stuff in the garden a couple of days ago, which wasn't heavy digging (a rosebush and some bluebells), but it was such a good sign that she's getting back to her pre-tumor self :)

(In retrospect, that thing had been dragging her down for months, we had noticed a big energy dip starting around October, but didn't know what was going on.)

I really go out dancing by myself! Kira's not quite ready to go out with me again (understandably), and I'd *rather* have a friend or two along, but I know the DJs and staff at my favorite places, so -- while they're working and have limited social time -- it's not completely strangers.

I think that hat is too fancy for the back room of the dive bar I'm going to be at tonight, but it may be coming to the Church with me, at some point before it gets too hot here!

And, yes, there are a few nights that push my musical buttons -- tonight is an 80's Goth night (which is really 80's/90's Goth/Industrial and crossover stuff like Depeche Mode and Echo & the Bunnymen), which is sparsely-attended but has GREAT music, Sundays are the Church, our big local Goth/Industrial night, there's a new synthwave night on the first Weds of every month that's about to start up (will be out of town for May, going to check it out in June), and Dallas gets a lot of bands coming through.

Just saw my recent-ex (Cute Metal Boy/Lew)'s band last Saturday, playing with a couple of other local metal bands (I'm a fan of Rivethead), and bought tickets for Kira and I to see Marina & the Diamonds in September :)
